An Amazing Summer Vacation Changes Our Springtime Plans a Little
My son went away to summer camp for the first time this year and he really loved it. This summer camp was in a wooded area and concentrated a lot on outdoor skills but also concentrated a lot on leadership and teamwork. At this summer camp they did a lot of team building activities for kids to teach them about teamwork, resolving conflicts, self-confidence, leadership skills and so forth.
One of many games they played was known as the human web. This activity was designed to help the children learn the art of communication. The way this game is played is that the children stand in a circle and stretch out their hands toward the middle. Every kid joins hands with 2 other children and when everyone is holding hands they attempt to untangle the web without releasing their hands. Another fun activity was a scavenger hunt. The children were divided into different groups and each team was presented with a list of items which they needed to discover within a specific time period. The children learn to come together to solve problems and to communicate in demanding scenarios. The scavenger hunt is timed and there were for the team that won.
The summer camp he went to also had a large focus on ecology and environment. The children did a lot of outdoor activities like boating, swimming, hiking, knot tying and even a little bit of outdoor survival skills. They discovered the way to identify different animals and plants, start a fire, build a shelter and so on. They also discovered a lot about recycling, green energy and so on.
My son enjoyed his summer camp so much that we will be altering our plans for his spring vacation from school. We were going to go to Disney World and I even started researching Disney timeshares for sale so that we could visit there every year but after having such a wonderful experience at a summer camp he would rather go on a camping or backpacking trip instead. We’re now planning on going to Yellowstone National Park. In the spring time the roads are not open to cars yet but a lot of the roads will be open to nonmotorized recreational vehicles such as bicycles and roller skates. We’re going to go on a bike riding/camping trip and it ought to be tons of fun.
